The design of this shaft is specific to polo. The taper is meant to provide maximum strength to weight ratio, not to mimic a ski pole. The thing is rigid, strong, and lightweight. There are lighter shafts out there, but they aren't as strong. There are stronger models out there, but they aren't as light. All we know is that this shaft boils down to a smooth, creamy balance.
